Pro-public education, pro-labor candidate endorsements

WEA Endorsements for 2020: “Our mission is to recommend and elect pro-public education, pro-labor candidates to office. WEA-PAC makes recommendations in races for statewide, legislative and local candidates--regardless of party affiliation. Candidates complete a written questionnaire and participate in an interview with WEA-PAC members. Based on the questionnaire and interview, WEA-PAC members make a recommendation.”

2020 Legislative Endorsement Process & Information:

In the spring of 2020, LWEA members had the opportunity to interview legislative candidates for the upcoming 2020 elections.

THANK YOU to all of you who already belong to WEA-PAC (along with 42,000 other educators from across Washington state)!

WEA has a powerful relationship with our Washington State representatives in the legislature. It’s amazing to think of all of the ways the members of the legislature directly affect our jobs and the lives of our students. The WEA-PAC board recommends and elects pro-education, pro-student & pro-union candidates – regardless of party affiliation.

Update on our local endorsements:

This spring, four of our very own LWEA members (Jennie Bergstrom, Sarah Cooper, Marilyn Hargraves and Gerry Wilson) interviewed two candidates from the 45th Legislative District-Rep. Larry Springer and Rep. Roger Goodman. Both of these local representatives have been warriors for public education and have fought for educators over many on vital issues for many years. After reviewing their questionnaire responses and interviewing them, we recommended that they both be endorsed by WEA. During the May WEA-PAC board meeting, the WEA-PAC board endorsed both candidates! Your WEA-PAC ($2.25/month) contribution helped with this process! And a BIG THANKS to Sarah, Jennie, and Marilynn for giving up their time and being involved!
